The object looks like a fragment of a cliff face lifted out of a landscape and set down in a room together with the fire that burned at its foot. By day it is a sculptural column — heavy, stony, silent. In the evening the hearth is lit and the composition becomes what it was conceived as: a campfire beneath an overhanging rock, the oldest interior there is.
