The 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a two-wheel drive rear-wheel drive sports car manufactured under the Chevrolet brand by General Motors in the United States since 1953. The car is the first American sports car created by an American manufacturer. There is a National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green.
The inspiration for the third-generation Corvette shark silhouette was the Mako Shark II concept car. Then the famous retractable headlights appeared.
The new Corvette was the first production car with a T-shaped roof (with a body "t-top") - its panels were made removable. It was enough to do a few simple manipulations to turn the car from closed to open and back. The rear window could also be removed.
